Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge – New mitigation measures

The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable is informing road users of the implementation of new mitigation measures in response to the inconveniences associated with the major obstructions required at the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.

Use of shoulder by buses (UAB)

Use of the shoulder by buses (UAB) will be possible on Highway 40, westbound (towards Vaudreuil-Dorion), between rue Frédéric-Back and boulevard des Anciens-Combattants. This measure is authorized only for school, exo and STM buses, subject to compliance with the conditions stipulated in the Highway Safety Code for traffic on a shoulder.

Free passage on some exo bus routes

Exo bus routes 7, 10, 35 and 91 will be free of charge until the opening of the third lane on the bridge. However, users will need to purchase a valid ticket if they wish to transfer to another public transit service.

Distribution of free public transit tickets

Free public transit tickets will be distributed at Hudson, Vaudreuil, Dorion, Pincourt and Île-Perrot stations on train line 11 Vaudreuil-Hudson. Montreal-bound commuters will receive a free two-pass “Tous modes ABC” ticket for the outward and return train journeys, including connections with the bus, metro and REM networks.

Tickets will be distributed Monday to Friday, between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., depending on the train schedule, when trains depart for Montreal. No tickets will be issued on Saturdays or Sundays. Distribution will be suspended between Friday, December 22, 2023 at 8 p.m. and Monday, January 8, 2024 at 5:30 a.m. Free travel on line 11 will be maintained at all five stations during periods when tickets are not distributed.

These mitigation measures are in addition to those already in place:

  • Free service at all times on the exo 40 bus line – Express Vaudreuil – Terminus Côte-Vertu (users must acquire a valid ticket if they wish to transfer to another public transit service)
