New By-law on Dogs (By-law 506)

The Municipal Council of the Village of Senneville adopted By-law No. 506 concerning dogs at the council meeting held on May 27, 2024. This by-law replaces the former By-law No. 394.

Here are the key points:

  • Leash required: Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in public areas, unless in designated zones.
  • Potentially dangerous dogs: A dog may be declared potentially dangerous by the municipality if, after reviewing the report of the veterinarian who examined the animal and assessed its condition and level of danger, it is determined that the dog poses a risk to public health or safety.
  • Identification: All dogs must be registered with the municipality and wear a valid tag.
  • Fines: Fines ranging from $250 to $10,000 may be issued for non-compliance with the by-law.
