External Cybersecurity Incident: Password Change Required

The Village of Senneville wishes to inform its residents that a cybersecurity incident has occurred at OnSolve, the company responsible for the “CodeRED” alert system used by the Municipality as well as by several other municipalities in Quebec in case of emergencies. This system operates entirely independently from municipal systems. No municipal technological infrastructure has been compromised, and the incident remains strictly limited to the external provider OnSolve.

According to information provided by OnSolve, data associated with the CodeRED platform was exfiltrated by an unauthorized third party in November and may be made public. The personal information provided to CodeRED and potentially affected by this incident includes: name, address, phone number, email address, as well as the password used when creating the account.

Since the incident, the CodeRED platform and associated accounts are no longer accessible. The primary risk related to this event involves the possible reuse of the same password on other services. If you use your CodeRED password to access other online accounts, you are strongly encouraged to change those passwords immediately and to adopt a unique and strong password for each service. As always, please remain vigilant when receiving unsolicited or unexpected communications.

OnSolve is currently pursuing its investigation and working to restore the integrity of its service. The Municipality is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to inform residents of any significant developments. We also invite you to regularly consult our website and subscribe to our newsletters to receive any urgent communications, as we are currently unable to use the automated calling system to reach you.

Thank you for your understanding and vigilance.
